Prelude: Slow Air Herbert Howells/arr. Robin Wells

Call to Worship

Invocation

Hymn 382: God Himself Is with Us Wunderbarer König

Prayer of Confession

O most great, most just and gracious God, You are of purer eyes than to behold iniquity, but You have promised mercy through Jesus Christ to all that repent and believe in Him. We confess that we have all sinned and come short of the glory of God. We have neglected Your holy worship. We have not sought first Your kingdom. We have run into temptation, and the sin that we should have hated, we have committed. Have mercy on us, most merciful Father! In Your Son is our salvation, in Your promises our hope. Take us for Your children and give us the Spirit of Your Son, through Jesus Christ our only Savior, amen.

The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: Romans 5:1

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Doxology 733 Lasst Uns Erfreuen

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below; alleluia, alleluia!
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Question of Preparation: Westminster Shorter Catechism, question 85

Question: What does God require of us, that we may escape His wrath and curse, due to us for sin?
Answer: To escape the wrath and curse of God, due to us for sin, God requires of us faith in Jesus Christ, repentance unto life, with the diligent use of all the outward means whereby Christ communicates to us the benefits of redemption.

Sacrament of the Lord's Supper

The Sursum Corda (Lift up your hearts)

The Lord be with you.
And with your spirit.
Lift up your hearts!
We lift them up to the Lord!
Let us give thanks unto our Lord God.
It is right to give Him thanks and praise.
It is right and good and a joyful thing, always and everywhere to give thanks unto You, O Lord, Holy Father, Almighty, Everlasting God. Therefore, with angels and archangels, and with all the company of heaven, we laud and magnify Your glorious Name; evermore praising You, and saying:

“Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of hosts. Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest.”
