Call to Worship

Doxology Old Hundredth

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below;
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Prayer of Confession

Almighty God, we confess our lives abound in sinful desires and transgressions of Your holy law. Our consciences testify we are guilty before You and worthy of Your just judgment. Merciful Father, grant that we may so embrace Your infinite mercy that we may not doubt Your wrath will be turned from us, and yet not abuse this privilege by taking liberty to sin. Help us in true humility to daily flee to Your mercy, that we may be sustained and kept in safety until that day when we come to that eternal inheritance that has been obtained for us by the blood of Your only begotten Son. Amen.

The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: Ephesians 1:5–7

In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace.

Invocation

Hymn 76: Praise, My Soul, the King of Heaven Lauda Anima

Responsive Reading: Psalm 69:1–18 (pew Bible p.482)

Gloria Patri Meineke

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.

Apostles' Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Prayer of Intercession (concluding with The Lord’s Prayer)

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

My Song Is Love Unknown (11am) John Ireland/arr. James Kirkby
Tenth Church Choir

My song is love unknown, my Savior's love to me, love to the loveless shown that they might lovely be. O who am I that for my sake my Lord should take frail flesh and die? He came from His blest throne salvation to bestow; but men made strange, and none the longed-for Christ would know. But O my friend, my friend indeed, who at my need, His life did spend. Here might I stay and sing, no story so divine: never was love, dear King, never was grief like Thine. This is my friend in whose sweet praise I all my days could gladly spend.
