Call to Worship

Invocation

Hymn 441: Jesus Shall Reign Duke Street

Prayer of Confession

God of grace, we confess how hard it is for us to love You and to love others. We are hindered by our pride, self-centeredness, suspicion, fear, greed, and many other vices. We pray for a spirit of humility and meekness like the Lord Jesus, who came not to be served, but to serve, and give His life as a ransom. Help us to see again how much You have loved us in Christ, though undeserving, and may that spur us on to love and good works. Amen.

The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: 1 John 4:10–11

In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

Doxology 733 Lasst Uns Erfreuen

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below; alleluia, alleluia!
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!
