Prelude: This Is My Father's World arr. Dale Wood

Call to Worship

Invocation

Hymn 7: From All that Dwell Below the Skies Duke Street

Prayer of Confession

God of Grace, You love us, but we have not loved You. You call, but we have not listened. You speak, but we have not heard. You summon us, but we have not answered. We walk away from neighbors in need. By our actions and attitudes, we condone what You condemn. O merciful Lord, we admit our sin, and turn to You in full repentance to ask for Your gracious forgiveness. Restore us to full communion with You. Quicken our hearts to hear You when You speak, to be diligent and faithful in reading Your Word the Bible, and to respond when You call us to take action; through Jesus Christ our Redeemer. Amen.

The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: 2 Corinthians 5:17

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

Offertory: O for a Closer Walk with God Charles Villiers Stanford

Tenth Church Choir

O for a closer walk with God, a calm and heav’nly frame; a light to shine upon the road that leads me to the Lamb! Return, O holy Dove, return. Sweet messenger of rest; I hate the sins that made thee mourn, and drove thee from my breast. So shall my walk be close with God, calm and serene my frame; so purer light shall mark the road that leads me to the Lamb.

Question of Preparation: Westminster Shorter Catechism, question 91

Question: How do the sacraments become effectual means of salvation?
Answer: The sacraments become effectual means of salvation, not from any virtue in them, or in him that administers them; but only by the blessing of Christ, and the working of His Spirit in them that by faith receive them.

Sacrament of the Lord's Supper

The Sursum Corda (Lift up your hearts)

The Lord be with you.
And with your spirit.
Lift up your hearts!
We lift them up to the Lord!
Let us give thanks unto our Lord God.
It is right to give Him thanks and praise.
It is right and good and a joyful thing, always and everywhere to give thanks unto You, O Lord, Holy Father, Almighty, Everlasting God. Therefore, with angels and archangels, and with all the company of heaven, we laud and magnify Your glorious Name; evermore praising You, and saying:

“Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of hosts. Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest.”
