Prelude: Prelude in F Major, Op. 101 No. 1 Charles Villiers Stanford

Call to Worship

Invocation

Hymn 164: O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing Azmon

Prayer of Confession

Our heavenly Father, we confess before You that we often depart from the principles laid down in Your Word. We look for wisdom and direction from sources which will make us feel better, rather than looking to You to be made more like Christ. We shrink back from the crosses we are to bear, fearing suffering or inconvenience. Help us to see again that Jesus has already shouldered our greatest burden. Grant us grace to take His yoke upon us, knowing that His yoke is easy and His burden is light. Amen.

The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: 1 Peter 2:24

He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.

Doxology 733 Lasst Uns Erfreuen

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below; alleluia, alleluia!
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Confession of Faith: Westminster Shorter Catechism, question 97

Question: What is required for the worthy receiving of the Lord's Supper?
Answer: It is required of them that would worthily partake of the Lord's Supper, that they examine themselves of their knowledge to discern the Lord's body, of their faith to feed upon him, of their repentance, love, and new obedience; lest, coming unworthily, they eat and drink judgment to themselves.

Sacrament of the Lord's Supper

The Sursum Corda (Lift up your hearts)

The Lord be with you.
And with your spirit.
Lift up your hearts!
We lift them up to the Lord!
Let us give thanks unto our Lord God.
It is right to give Him thanks and praise.
It is right and good and a joyful thing, always and everywhere to give thanks unto You, O Lord, Holy Father, Almighty, Everlasting God. Therefore, with angels and archangels, and with all the company of heaven, we laud and magnify Your glorious Name; evermore praising You, and saying:

“Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of hosts. Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest.”
