Invocation

Hymn 302: Come, Christians, Join to Sing Madrid

Prayer of Confession

Our God and Father, You see our deeds, but You also know every motive of our hearts. We confess that underneath our good works often lies a cold and stony heart. You have given us so much, yet we attempt to use Your gifts without love. Forgive us for being secretly self-serving; for the times we manipulate our kindnesses to make ourselves look good. Forgive us for giving reluctantly, for not wanting to get our hands dirty, for not being willing to sacrifice. Help us to take up our cross daily, dying unto self, and living for Christ. Amen.

The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: 1 Peter 2:24

He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.

Doxology 733 Lasst Uns Erfreuen

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below; alleluia, alleluia!
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Confession of Faith: Westminster Shorter Catechism, question 96

Question: What is the Lord's Supper?
Answer: The Lord's Supper is a sacrament, wherein, by giving and receiving bread and wine, according to Christ's appointment, His death is showed forth; and the worthy receivers are, not after a corporal and carnal manner, but by faith, made partakers of His body and blood, with all His benefits, to their spiritual nourishment, and growth in grace.
