Prelude: Psalm 23 Percy Whitlock

Call to Worship

Invocation

Hymn 44: How Great Thou Art O Store Gud

Prayer of Confession

Merciful Father, forgive us for not keeping our minds fixed on You. We are often controlled by the wisdom of our time, rather than wholly by Your Word. Our thoughts are held captive by our sinful affections, and we are surrounded by temptations which aim to satisfy them. At times we act impulsively, not waiting for Your timing. Other times we are stubborn and unwilling to do Your bidding. May Your Holy Spirit guide us into all truth, and lead us in the way of Christ. Amen.

The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: Psalm 103:8, 10–12

The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.

Doxology 733 Lasst Uns Erfreuen

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below; alleluia, alleluia!
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Question of Preparation: Westminster Shorter Catechism, question 25

Question: What offices does Christ execute the office of a priest?
Answer: Christ executes the office of a priest, in his once offering up of himself a sacrifice to satisfy divine justice, and reconcile us to God, and in making continual intercession for us.

Sacrament of the Lord's Supper

The Sursum Corda (Lift up your hearts)

The Lord be with you.
And with your spirit.
Lift up your hearts!
We lift them up to the Lord!
Let us give thanks unto our Lord God.
It is right to give Him thanks and praise.
It is right and good and a joyful thing, always and everywhere to give thanks unto You, O Lord, Holy Father, Almighty, Everlasting God. Therefore, with angels and archangels, and with all the company of heaven, we laud and magnify Your glorious Name; evermore praising You, and saying:

“Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of hosts. Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest.”
