Invocation

Hymn 400: O Bless Our God with One Accord Old Hundredth

Prayer of Confession

Gracious Lord, we confess that we dishonor You in our thoughts, words and deeds. Depending on our strength, we stumble. Glorying in our own righteousness, we reject You. Turning our faces from You, we desire the things of this world to satisfy us. We pray now, Lord, for You to forgive all our many sins; to cleanse the darkness from our lives, and to turn our faces and our hearts back to You. We pray these things in the name of Your most precious Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.

The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: Isaiah 53:6

All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

Doxology 733 Lasst Uns Erfreuen

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below; alleluia, alleluia!
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Confession of Faith: Westminster Shorter Catechism, question 22

Question: How did Christ, being the Son of God, become man?
