Prelude: He Leads Me Amy Tate Williams

Sharon Neff, soprano

He leads me beside still waters, He makes me lie down in green pastures, He restores my soul by guiding my steps in the pathways of righteousness. And He makes me walk through the valley of death, but He never leaves me, He protects me. He prepares a table and pours out His blessing before all the world on me. And surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever I'm sure. Still waters, green pastures, He makes me lie down.

Call to Worship

Invocation

Hymn 78: O Bless the Lord, My Soul St. Michael

Prayer of Confession

O God of grace, You have imputed my sin to my substitute, and have imputed His righteousness to my soul, clothing me with a bridegroom’s robe, decking me with jewels of holiness. But in my Christian walk I am still in rags; my best prayers are stained with sin; my penitential tears are so much impurity; my confessions of wrong are so many aggravations of sin; my receiving the Spirit is tainted with selfishness. I need to repent of my repentance; I need my tears to be washed; I have no robe to bring to cover my sins, no loom to weave my own righteousness; I am always standing clothed in filthy garments, and by grace am always receiving change of raiment, for You justify the ungodly. Grant me never to lose sight of the exceeding sinfulness of sin, the exceeding righteousness of salvation, the exceeding glory of Christ, the exceeding beauty of holiness, the exceeding wonder of grace! Amen.

The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: Romans 5:1

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Doxology 733 Lasst Uns Erfreuen

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below; alleluia, alleluia!
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Confession of Faith: Westminster Shorter Catechism, question 19

Question: What is the misery of that estate whereinto man fell?

Offertory: Be Still and Know That I Am God Thelma Jackson Smith

Sharon Neff, soprano

Be still and know that I am God, Oh, restless heart, be still; the peace of God doth thee enfold and guard from ill; rest in the Lord patiently—upon His will. Oh, doubting heart be still; God's tender, loving promises, He doth fulfill. Oh, trusting heart, be still, lean thou on Him, true peace and joy, thy heart shall fill. Rest in the Lord, be still.
