Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below;

Prayer of Confession

Mighty God, we praise you Christ has been raised victorious over sin and death! There is, therefore, no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. But gracious Father, we lament that while victory has been won, the battle over sin still rages in our lives. Old habits cling to us; we find that sin is close at hand in all we do and say. Our affections are still won over by countless temptations. We too easily go along with the crowds around us. By your Holy Spirit, give us a holy distaste for sin. Write your Word upon our hearts, and lead us in righteousness each day, we pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: Romans 8:10–11

If Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
