Prelude: Prelude in f minor, BWV 534 Johann Sebastian Bach
Call to Worship
Invocation
Hymn 38: Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise St. Denio
Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
in light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
almighty, victorious, thy great name we praise.
Unresting, unhasting and silent as light,
nor wanting, nor wasting, thou rulest in might;
thy justice like mountains high soaring above
thy clouds which are fountains of goodness and love.
Great Father of glory, pure Father of light,
thine angels adore thee, all veiling their sight;
all praise we would render; O help us to see
‘tis only the splendor of light hideth thee!
Prayer of Confession
God of Grace, you love us, but we have not loved you. You call, but we have not listened. You speak, but we have not heard. You summon us, but we have not answered. We walk away from neighbors in need. By our actions and attitudes, we condone what you condemn. O merciful Lord, we admit our sin, and turn to you in full repentance to ask for your gracious forgiveness. Restore us to full communion with you. Quicken our hearts to hear you when you speak, to be diligent and faithful in reading your Word the Bible, and to respond when you call us to take action; through Jesus Christ our Redeemer. Amen.
The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: Psalm 32:5
I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” and you forgave the iniquity of my sin.
Doxology Tallis’ Canon
Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below;
Praise him above, ye heavenly host: praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
Prayer of Illumination
Scripture Reading: Jude 5–7
5 Now I want to remind you, although you once fully knew it, that Jesus, who saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe. 6 And the angels who did not stay within their own position of authority, but left their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains under gloomy darkness until the judgment of the great day—7 just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.
Hymn: How Deep the Father’s Love for Us Stuart Townend
Confession of Faith: Westminster Shorter Catechism, question 40
Question: What did God at first reveal to man for the rule of his obedience?
Answer: The rule which God at first revealed to man for his obedience, was the moral law.

Hymn 172: Let Us Love and Sing and Wonder All Saints Old
Let us love and sing and wonder, let us praise the Savior’s name!
He has hushed the law’s loud thunder, he has quenched Mount Sinai’s flame;
he has washed us with his blood, he has brought us nigh to God.
Let us love the Lord who bought us, pitied us when enemies,
called us by his grace, and taught us, gave us ears and gave us eyes:
he has washed us with his blood, he presents our souls to God.
Let us sing, though fierce temptation threaten hard to bear us down!
For the Lord, our strong salvation, holds in view the conqu’ror’s crown;
he who washed us with his blood, soon will bring us home to God.
Let us wonder; grace and justice join, and point to mercy’s store;
when through grace in Christ our trust is, justice smiles, and asks no more:
he who washed us with his blood, has secured our way to God.
Let us praise, and join the chorus of the saints enthroned on high;
here they trusted him before us, now their praises fill the sky:
“You have washed us with your blood; You are worthy, Lamb of God!”
Benediction
