Invocation

Hymn 300: Blessing and Honor and Glory and Power O Quanta Qualia

Blessing and honor and glory and power,
wisdom and riches and strength evermore
give ye to him who our battle hath won,
whose are the kingdom, the crown, and the throne.

Soundeth the heav’n of the heav’ns with his name;
ringeth the earth with his glory and fame;
oceans and mountain, stream, forest, and flower
Echo his praises and tell of his power.

Ever ascendeth the song and the joy;
ever descendeth the love from on high;
blessing and honor and glory and praise —
this is the theme of the hymns that we raise.

Give we the glory and praise to the Lamb;
take we the robe and the harp and the palm;
sing we the song of the Lamb that was slain,
dying in weakness, but rising to reign.

Prayer of Confession

O Lord, you are great and greatly to be praised! Forgive us for failing to glorify you as we ought: for half-hearted devotion, for speaking your name lightly, in establishing competing priorities, by allowing our sinful affections to dominate our thoughts, by not loving our neighbor as ourselves. Holy Father, please forgive our trespasses and grant us the renewing grace of your Holy Spirit, through Christ our Savior we pray. Amen.

The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: Colossians 1:13–14

He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Doxology Tallis’ Canon

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below;
Praise him above, ye heavenly host: praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Prayer of Illumination

Scripture Reading: Habakkuk 2:13–14

13 Behold, is it not from the Lord of hosts that peoples labor merely for fire, and nations weary themselves for nothing? 14 For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.

Hymn 605: All the Way My Savior Leads Me All The Way

All the way my Savior leads me; what have I to ask beside?
Can I doubt his tender mercy, who through life has been my guide?
Heav’nly peace, divinest comfort, here by faith in him to dwell;
for I know, whate’er befall me, Jesus doeth all things well;
for I know, whate’er befall me, Jesus doeth all things well.

All the way my Savior leads me, cheers each winding path I tread,
gives me grace for ev’ry trial, feeds me with the living bread.
Though my weary steps may falter, and my soul a-thirst may be,
gushing from the rock before me, lo, a spring of joy I see;
gushing from the rock before me, lo, a spring of joy I see!

All the way my Savior leads me — O the fullness of his love!
perfect rest to me is promised in my Father’s house above:
when my spirit, clothed, immortal, wings its flight to realms of day,
this my song through endless ages: Jesus led me all the way;
this my song through endless ages: Jesus led me all the way!

Confession of Faith: Westminster Shorter Catechism, question 6

Question: How many persons are there in the Godhead?
Answer: There are three persons in the Godhead; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost; and these three are one God, the same in substance, equal in power and glory.

Sermon: “Perplexed, but not...” Rev. Carroll Wynne

Hymn 310: Rejoice, the Lord Is King Darwall

Rejoice, the Lord is King: your Lord and King adore!
Rejoice, give thanks, and sing, and triumph evermore.

(Refrain)
Lift up your heart, lift up your voice! Rejoice, again I say, rejoice!

Jesus the Savior reigns, the God of truth and love;
when he had purged our stains, he took his seat above. (Refrain)

His kingdom cannot fail, he rules o’er earth and heav’n;
the keys of death and hell are to our Jesus giv’n. (Refrain)

He sits at God’s right hand till all his foes submit,
and bow to his command, and fall beneath his feet. (Refrain)

Rejoice in glorious hope! Our Lord, the Judge, shall come,
and take his servants up to their eternal home. (Refrain)

Benediction
