Hymn 57: Hallelujah, Praise Jehovah, O My Soul Ripley
Prayer of Confession
Our glorious God and King, we thank you that we can come before you in the name of Jesus, who has redeemed us from our sin. We confess that we do not always bow to your authority; we are proud and want what we think is best, rather than seeking your will. We blame you when things go wrong, questioning your love for us. But Lord, who else can we turn to in our need? You are our Creator and our Sustainer, our Redeemer and Friend. Give us faith to trust you through all the seasons of life. May your will be done in our lives, even as it is done in heaven. Amen.
The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: Colossians 1:13–14
He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Doxology (Trinity Hymnal 732) Tallis’ Canon
Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below;
Praise him above, ye heavenly host: praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Prayer of Illumination (concluding with The Lord’s Prayer) Miguel Pulido
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
