Prelude Tenth Church Choir

If Ye Love Me Philip Wilby

If ye love me, keep my commandments, and I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; e’en the Spirit of Truth. And ye know him, for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless. I will come to you.

Great Day arr. Philip Kern

Great day! Great day, the righteous marchin’. Great day! God’s gonna build up Zion’s walls. The chariot rode on the mountain top, my God, he spoke and the chariot stop. This is the day of jubilee, the Lord has set his people free. I’ll see the chariot come my way, I’ll shout for joy on that great day! He’ll save me with his mighty hand, and carry me off to the Promised Land!

Call to Worship

Doxology (Trinity Hymnal 731) Old Hundredth

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below;

Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Prayer of Confession

Our Father in heaven, we come before you as sinners in need of your redeeming grace. Every day we transgress your commands in our thoughts and actions. We fail to seek your glory in all we do, and we are often unloving towards others. We confess our feelings of envy and strife, of jealousy and covetousness. Oh God, in your mercy change us! We long for the cleansing work of your Holy Spirit. Grant us grace to know your love for us in Christ, and help us then to love and serve you and our neighbors day by day. Amen.

The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: 1 Corinthians 15:56-57

The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Invocation

Gloria Patri (Trinity Hymnal 734) Meineke

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;

as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.

Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Prayer of Intercession (concluding with The Lord’s Prayer)

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
