Prelude: Liebster Jesu, BWV 731 Johann Sebastian Bach

Call to Worship

Invocation

Hymn 302: Come, Christians, Join to Sing Madrid

Prayer of Confession

O Lord, you are great and greatly to be praised! Forgive us for failing to glorify you as we ought: for half-hearted devotion, for speaking your name lightly, in establishing priorities apart from your will, by allowing our sinful affections to dominate our thoughts, by not loving our neighbor as ourselves. Holy Father, please forgive our trespasses and grant us the renewing grace of your Holy Spirit, through Christ our Savior we pray. Amen.

The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: Ephesians 2:47

But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

Doxology 733 Lasst Uns Erfreuen

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below; alleluia, alleluia!
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Hymn 291: See, the Conqueror Mounts in Triumph Rustington

Question of Preparation: Westminster Larger Catechism, question 54

Question: How is Christ exalted in his sitting at the right hand of God?
Answer: Christ is exalted in his sitting at the right hand of God, in that as God-man he is advanced to the highest favor with God the Father, with all fullness of joy, glory, and power over all things in heaven and earth; and doth gather and defend his Church, and subdue their enemies; furnishes his ministers and people with gifts and graces, and makes intercession for them.

Offertory: Above All Praise and Majesty Felix Mendelssohn
Tenth Church Choir
Nathaniel Fletcher, conductor

Above all praise and all majesty, and above all majesty. Lord, thou reignest evermore, Hallelujah.

Sacrament of the Lord's Supper

The Sursum Corda (Lift up your hearts)

The Lord be with you.
And with your spirit.
Lift up your hearts!
We lift them up to the Lord!
Let us give thanks unto our Lord God.
It is right to give Him thanks and praise.
It is right and good and a joyful thing, always and everywhere to give thanks unto You, O Lord, Holy Father, Almighty, Everlasting God. Therefore, with angels and archangels, and with all the company of heaven, we laud and magnify Your glorious Name; evermore praising You, and saying:

“Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of hosts. Heaven and earth are full of Your glory. Hosanna in the highest.”
