Invocation
Hymn 303: Blessed Jesus, at Your Word Liebster Jesu
Prayer of Confession
O God, who are of purer eyes than to behold iniquity, but who despises not the sorrow of the contrite, have mercy upon us, according to your lovingkindness. You alone know how often we have sinned: in wandering from your ways, in wasting your gifts, in forgetting your love. O searcher of hearts, help us to acknowledge with deep sorrow the multitude of our transgressions. In your mercy, bring these things to our remembrance, and do not allow us to continue in them without correction. Cleanse us from all iniquity, and let your mercy bring us healing, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: Isaiah 1:18
Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.

Confession of Faith: Westminster Larger Catechism Question 53
Question: How was Christ exalted in his ascension?
Answer: Christ was exalted in his ascension, in that having after his resurrection often appeared unto and conversed with his apostles, speaking to them of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God, and giving them commission to preach the gospel to all nations, forty days after his resurrection, he, in our nature and as our head, triumphing over enemies, visibly went up into the highest heavens, there to receive gifts for men, to raise up our affections there, and to prepare a place for us, where himself is and shall continue till his second coming at the end of the world.
