Prelude: Improvisation on Lift Up Your Heads Josh Kraybill

Call to Worship

Invocation

Hymn 198: Lift Up Your Heads, Ye Mighty Gates! Truro

Prayer of Confession

Our great and glorious God, loving and gracious Father, we often pretend that we can conceal things from you, conveniently forgetting that you see and know all things. We confess our pride and shortcomings. Gracious God, our sins are too heavy to carry, too real to conceal, too deep to undo. Set us free from a past we cannot change, open to us a future in which we can be changed, and grant us grace to be transformed more and more into the likeness of Jesus, in whose strong name we pray. Amen.

The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: Galatians 2:20

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Doxology 732 Tallis' Canon

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below;
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Confession of Faith: Westminster Larger Catechism Question 47

Question: How did Christ humble himself in his conception and birth?
Answer: Christ humbled himself in his conception and birth, in that, being from all eternity the Son of God, in the bosom of the Father, he was pleased in the fullness of time to become the son of man, made of a woman of low estate, and to be born of her; with diverse circumstances of more than ordinary abasement.
