Call to Worship
Doxology Old Hundredth
Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below;
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
Prayer of Confession
Heavenly Father, forgive us for being too earthly minded, setting our minds on things that are on earth rather than things that are above. Forgive us when we fail to remember our identity in Christ, living as though we were still in Adam rather than in Christ. Forgive us when we forget that Christ is our life. Help us by your Spirit to put off the old self with its practices and to put on the new self. In Jesus' name. Amen.
The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: Romans 8:1
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
Invocation
Hymn 235: All Glory, Laud, and Honor St. Theodulph
Responsive Reading: Psalm 35:19–28 (pew Bible p. 465)
Gloria Patri Meineke
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.
Apostles' Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
Prayer of Intercession (concluding with The Lord’s Prayer)
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
