Prelude: Folk Tune Percy Whitlock
Call to Worship
Doxology Old Hundredth
Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below;
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
Prayer of Confession
Our God and Father, we praise you that your mercies are new every morning; great is your faithfulness! We confess that we are daily in need of your grace, for sin clings so closely that we can hardly do anything from a pure heart. We need your Holy Spirit to sanctify us by your word and keep us from all manner of temptation and evil. Grant us the assurance that in Christ we are no longer slaves to sin, and that in him we are new creations. Lord, have mercy upon us, for the sake of your dear Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: John 3:16–17
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Invocation
Hymn 55: To God Be the Glory To God Be the Glory
Responsive Reading: Psalm 29 (pew Bible p. 461)
Gloria Patri Meineke
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.
Apostles' Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
Prayer of Intercession (concluding with The Lord’s Prayer)
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
