Call to Worship
Doxology Old Hundredth
Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below;
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
Prayer of Confession
O most great, most just and gracious God; you are of purer eyes than to behold iniquity, but you
have promised mercy through Jesus Christ to all that repent and believe in him. We confess that we
have all sinned and come short of the glory of God. We have neglected your holy worship. We have
not sought first your kingdom. You have revealed your wonderful love to us in Christ and offered us
pardon and salvation in him, but we have turned away. We have run into temptation, and the sin that
we should have hated, we have committed. Have mercy on us, most merciful Father! In your Son is
our salvation, in your promises our hope. Take us for your children and give us the Spirit of your Son,
through Jesus Christ our only Savior. Amen.
The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: Colossians 1:13–14
He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Invocation
Hymn 196: Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus Hyfrydol
Responsive Reading: Psalm 25:8–15 (pew Bible p. 459)
Gloria Patri Meineke
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.
Nicene Creed
I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds; God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God; begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made. Who, for us and our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; He suffered death and was buried; and the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures; and ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of the Father; and He shall come again, with glory, to judge the living and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end. And I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of life; who proceedeth from the Father and the Son; (continued on the next page)
who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified; who spake by the prophets. And I believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins; and I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
Prayer of Intercession (concluding with The Lord’s Prayer)
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

The First Nowell (11am) Bob Chilcott
Tenth Church Choir
The first Nowell the angels did say was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay; in fields where they lay keeping their sheep, on a cold winter’s night that was so deep. Nowell, born is the King of Israel. They looked up and saw a star shining in the east beyond them far; and to the earth it gave great light both day and night. Nowell, born is the King of Israel. And by the light of that same star, three wise men came from country far; to seek for a king was their intent, and to follow the star wherever it went. Nowell, born is the King of Israel. This star drew nigh to the northwest; over Bethlehem it took its rest, and there it did both stop and stay right over the place where Jesus lay. Nowell, born is the King of Israel. Then entered in those wise men three, full rev’rently upon their knee, and offered there in his presence their gold and myrrh and frankincense. Nowell, born is the King of Israel. Then let us all with one accord sing praises to our heav’nly Lord, that hath made heav’n and earth of nought, and with his blood mankind has bought. Nowell, born is the King of Israel.
