Prelude: Savior of the Nations, Come Johann Sebastian Bach
Call to Worship
Invocation
Hymn 225: Once in Royal David's City Irby
Prayer of Confession
O most mighty God, and merciful Father, who has compassion upon all men, and who wills not the death of a sinner, but rather that he should turn from his sin, and be saved; mercifully forgive us our trespasses; receive and comfort us, who are grieved and wearied with the burden of our sins. Your disposition is always to have mercy; you alone can forgive sins. Spare us therefore, good Lord, spare your people, whom you have redeemed; enter not into judgment with your servants; but so turn your anger from us, who meekly acknowledge our transgressions, and truly repent of our faults, and so make haste to help us in this world, that we may ever live with you in the world to come; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: Isaiah 40:1–2
Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and cry to her that her warfare is ended, that her iniquity is pardoned, that she has received from the Lord’s hand double for all her sins.
Doxology 732 Tallis' Canon
Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below;
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Confession of Faith: Westminster Larger Catechism Question 35
Question: How is the covenant of grace administered under the New Testament?
Answer: Under the New Testament, when Christ the substance was exhibited, the same covenant of grace was and still is to be administered in the preaching of the Word, and the administration of the sacraments of baptism and the Lord’s supper; in which grace and salvation are held forth in more fullness, evidence, and efficacy, to all nations.
