Prelude: The Tearless Life Is There Basil Harwood

Call to Worship

Invocation

Hymn 2: O Worship the King Lyons

Prayer of Confession

O God, we praise you that you have given all authority to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  He is the King of kings, and Lord of lords, and worthy of all of our honor and service. Yet, our Father, we confess that we are too often timid stewards of his kingdom: we are sometimes fearful to utter the name of Jesus lest we be ridiculed; slow to follow where he would lead us; doubtful that he will sustain his Church amidst the onslaught of the world. Father, be merciful to us in our weakness and frailty, in our fear and our doubt. May we rest in your forgiving love, your omnipotent sovereignty, your omniscient wisdom. Give us grace to rely wholly on you, trusting that in our weakness is your strength, through Christ our Lord we pray. Amen.

The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: Colossians 1:1314

He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Doxology 733 Lasst Uns Erfreuen

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below; alleluia, alleluia!
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!
