Invocation
Hymn 38: Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise St. Denio
Prayer of Confession
O God, who are of purer eyes than to behold iniquity, but who despises not the sorrow of the contrite, have mercy upon us, according to your lovingkindness. You alone know how often we have sinned: in wandering from your ways, in wasting your gifts, in forgetting your love. O searcher of hearts, help us to acknowledge with deep sorrow the multitude of our transgressions. In your mercy, bring these things to our remembrance, and do not allow us to continue in them without correction. Cleanse us from all iniquity, and let your mercy bring us healing, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: Ephesians 2:8–9
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Confession of Faith: Westminster Larger Catechism Question 28
Question: What are the punishments of sin in this world?
Answer: The punishments of sin in this world, are either inward, as blindness of mind, a reprobate sense, strong delusions, hardness of heart, horror of conscience, and vile affections: or outward, as the curse of God upon the creatures for our sake; and all other evils that befall us in our bodies, names, estates, relations, and employments; together with death itself.
