Call to Worship

Doxology (Trinity Hymnal 731) Old Hundredth

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below;

Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Prayer of Confession

Our great Shepherd, we praise you because your goodness and mercy follow us all the days of our lives. Yet, our Father, we so often act as though you are distant and unloving. Instead of seeing your gracious providence in our lives, we grumble and complain when things do not go our way. We tend to be selfish rather than looking to the needs of others. We confess our lack of trust and ingratitude. Give us faith to trust you in plenty and in want, in sickness and in health. Help us to forsake all things which we would put before you, so we might love you with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength. Amen.

The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: Acts 10:43

To him all the prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.

Gloria Patri (Trinity Hymnal 734) Meineke

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;

as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.

Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Prayer of Intercession (concluding with The Lord’s Prayer)

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Offering Prayer

Offertory: The Truth From Above arr. Todd Marchand

This is the truth sent from above, the truth of God, the God of love: therefore don’t turn me from your door, but hearken all, both rich and poor. The first thing which I do relate is that God did man create. The next thing which to you I’ll tell, woman was made with man to dwell. Then, after this, ’twas God’s own choice to place them both in Paradise, there to remain, from evil free, except they ate of such a tree. And they did eat, which was a sin, And thus their ruin did begin. Ruined themselves, both you and me, and all of their posterity. Thus we were heirs to endless woes, till God the Lord did interpose, and so a promise soon did run, that he would redeem us by his Son.
