Invocation
Hymn 75: O Father, You Are Sovereign St. Theodulph
Prayer of Confession
Father of mercies, please listen to us while we confess before you how unworthy we have been of all your goodness. We are a sinful generation, even as our fathers were. We have sinned times without number, and even those of us who are your people, and have been born into your house, we have even more than others to mourn over our sin, for you have made us more sensible of it, and we have sinned against greater light, which we do sorrowfully confess. Our sins of pride, of unbelief, of hasty judgment of your providence, our neglect of searching into your mind in the Word, our neglect of possessing your mind in our daily life, our transgressions and our shortcomings make against us a great list of accusations. Forgive us, we pray, and grant us mercy for the sake of your dear Son, our Savior. Amen.
The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: 1 John 4:9–10
In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
Doxology 733 Lasst Uns Erfreuen
Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below; alleluia, alleluia!
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Question of Preparation: Westminster Larger Catechism, question 168
Question: What is the Lord’s Supper?
Answer: The Lord’s Supper is a Sacrament of the New Testament, wherein, by giving and receiving bread and wine according to the appointment of Jesus Christ, his death is shewed forth; and they that worthily communicate feed upon his body and blood, to their spiritual nourishment and growth in grace; have their union and communion with him confirmed; testify and renew their thankfulness, and engagement to God, and their mutual love and fellowship each with other, as members of the same mystical body.

The Sursum Corda (Lift up your hearts)
The Lord be with you.
And with your spirit.
Lift up your hearts!
We lift them up to the Lord!
Let us give thanks unto our Lord God.
It is right to give Him thanks and praise.
It is right and good and a joyful thing, always and everywhere to give thanks unto You, O Lord, Holy Father, Almighty, Everlasting God. Therefore, with angels and archangels, and with all the company of heaven, we laud and magnify Your glorious Name; evermore praising You, and saying:
“Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of hosts. Heaven and earth are full of Your glory. Hosanna in the highest.”
