Hymn 3: Give to Our God Immortal Praise Warrington

Prayer of Confession

Righteous God, if your mercy had bounds, who could stand before you? We come before you with sins unnumbered, in our thoughts and actions, in our words and attitudes. We have not loved you with our whole heart, and we have not loved our neighbor as we ought. Merciful Father, we have no merit of our own, no works which will commend us to you. We praise you that where our sin abounded, your grace much more abounds. Our only hope is in the cross of Jesus Christ, in his death and resurrection. By your Holy Spirit grant us grace to trust him more. Amen.

The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: John 3:1617

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Doxology 733 Lasst Uns Erfreuen

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below; alleluia, alleluia!
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Hymn 528: My Faith Looks Up to Thee Olivet

Confession of Faith: Westminster Larger Catechism Question 25

Question: Wherein consists the sinfulness of that estate whereinto man fell?
Answer: The sinfulness of that estate whereinto man fell, consists in the guilt of Adam’s first sin, the want of that righteousness wherein he was created, and the corruption of his nature, whereby he is utterly indisposed, disabled, and made opposite unto all that is spiritually good, and wholly inclined to all evil, and that continually; which is commonly called Original Sin, and from which do proceed all actual transgressions.
