Hymn 83: O Praise the Lord, for He Is Good Richmond
Prayer of Confession
O God, who are of purer eyes than to behold iniquity, but who despises not the sorrow of the contrite, have mercy upon us, according to your lovingkindness. You alone know how often we have sinned: in wandering from your ways, in wasting your gifts, in forgetting your love. O searcher of hearts, help us to acknowledge with deep sorrow the multitude of our transgressions. In your mercy, bring these things to our remembrance, and do not allow us to continue in them without correction. Cleanse us from all iniquity, and let your mercy bring us healing, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: Romans 5:1–2
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Doxology 733 Lasst Uns Erfreuen
Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below; alleluia, alleluia!
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Confession of Faith: Westminster Larger Catechism Question 20
Question: What was the providence of God toward man in the estate in which he was created?
Answer: The providence of God toward man in the estate in which he was created, was the placing him in paradise, appointing him to dress it, giving him liberty to eat of the fruit of the earth; putting the creatures under his dominion, and ordaining marriage for his help; affording him communion with Himself; instituting the Sabbath; entering into a covenant of life with him, upon condition of personal, perfect, and perpetual obedience, of which the tree of life was a pledge; and forbidding to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, upon the pain of death.
