Call to Worship

Doxology Old Hundredth

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below;
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Prayer of Confession

Almighty and most merciful Father; we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against your holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; and we have done those things which we ought not to have done; and there is no health in us. But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable offenders. Spare those, O God, who confess their faults. Restore those who are penitent; according to your promises declared unto mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord. And grant, O merciful Father, for his sake; that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life; to the glory of your holy name. Amen.

The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: John 3:1617

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Invocation

Hymn 53: Praise to the Lord, the Almighty Lobe Den Herren

Responsive Reading: Psalm 143 (pew Bible p. 523)

Gloria Patri Meineke

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.

Apostles' Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Prayer of Intercession (concluding with The Lord’s Prayer)

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Saints Bound for Heaven (11am) arr. Alice Parker/Robert Shaw
Tenth Church Choir

Our bondage it shall end by and by. From Egypt's yoke set free, hail the glorious jubilee, and to Canaan we'll return by and by. Our deliv'rer He shall come, by and by. And our sorrows have an end with our three-score years and ten, and vast glory crown the day by and by. And when to Jordan's floods we are come, Jehovah rules the tide and the waters He'll divide, and the ransom'd host shall shout we are come. Then with all the happy throng we'll rejoice! Shouting Glory to our King, till the vaults of heaven ring, and thro' all eternity we'll rejoice!
