Invocation
Hymn 168: I Greet Thee, Who My Sure Redeemer Art Toulon
Prayer of Confession
Father of mercies, please listen to us while we confess before you how unworthy we have been of all your goodness; for we are a sinful generation, even as our fathers were. We have sinned times without number, and even those of us who are your people, and have been born into your house, we have even more than others to mourn over our sin, for you have made us more sensible of it, and we have sinned against greater light, which we do sorrowfully confess. Our sins of pride, of unbelief, of hasty judgment of your providence, our neglect of searching into your mind in the Word, our neglect of possessing your mind in our daily life, our transgressions and our shortcomings make against us a great list of accusations. Forgive us, we pray, and grant us mercy for the sake of your dear Son, our Savior. Amen.
The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: Acts 10:43
To him all the prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.
Doxology 733 Lasst Uns Erfreuen
Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below; alleluia, alleluia!
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Question of Preparation: Westminster Larger Catechism, question 170
Question: How do they that worthily communicate in the Lord’s Supper feed upon the body and blood of Christ therein?
Answer: The body and blood of Christ are not corporally or carnally present in, with, or under the bread and wine in the Lord’s Supper; and yet are spiritually present to the faith of the receiver, no less truly and really than the elements themselves are to their outward senses; so they that worthily communicate in the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper, do therein feed upon the body and blood of Christ, not after a corporal or carnal, but in a spiritual manner; yet truly and really, while by faith they receive and apply unto themselves Christ crucified, and all the benefits of his death.
Sacrament of the Lord's Supper
The Sursum Corda (Lift up your hearts)
The Lord be with you.
And with your spirit.
Lift up your hearts!
We lift them up to the Lord!
Let us give thanks unto our Lord God.
It is right to give Him thanks and praise.
It is right and good and a joyful thing, always and everywhere to give thanks unto You, O Lord, Holy Father, Almighty, Everlasting God. Therefore, with angels and archangels, and with all the company of heaven, we laud and magnify Your glorious Name; evermore praising You, and saying:
“Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of hosts. Heaven and earth are full of Your glory. Hosanna in the highest.”
