Prelude: Grazioso Georg Philipp Telemann

Call to Worship

Doxology Old Hundredth

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below;
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Prayer of Confession

Almighty God, we confess our lives abound in sinful desires and transgressions of your holy law. Our consciences testify we are guilty before you and worthy of your just judgment. Merciful Father, grant that we may so embrace your infinite mercy that we may not doubt your wrath will be turned from us, and yet not abuse this privilege by taking liberty to sin. Help us in true humility to daily flee to your mercy, that we may be sustained and kept in safety until that day when we come to that eternal inheritance that has been obtained for us by the blood of your only begotten Son. Amen.

The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: John 3:1617

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Invocation

Hymn 55: To God Be the Glory To God Be the Glory

Responsive Reading: Psalm 139 (pew Bible p. 521)

Gloria Patri Meineke

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.

Apostles' Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Prayer of Intercession (concluding with The Lord’s Prayer)

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Come, Let Us to the Lord Our God (11am) arr. Colin Howland

Come, let us to the Lord our God with contrite hearts return; our God is gracious, nor will leave the desolate to mourn. His voice commands the tempest forth, and stills the stormy wave; and though his arm be strong to smite, 'tis also strong to save. Long has the night of sorrow reigned; the dawn shall bring us light; God shall appear, and we shall rise with gladness in his sight. As dew upon the tender herb, diffusing fragrance round; as showers that usher in the spring, and cheer the thirsty ground: So shall his presence bless our souls, and shed a joyful light; that hallowed morn shall chase away the sorrows of the night.
