Call to Worship

Doxology Old Hundredth

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below;
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Prayer of Confession

Sovereign Lord, to whom angels cry “Holy, holy, holy,” you are infinite, eternal, and unchanging in your being, wisdom, power, truth, and goodness. In your presence we recognize that we are more sinful than we ever thought. Our sin blinds us to the truth of who we really are. Yet you see all and know all; we cannot hide even our deepest secrets from you. O God, cleanse us by your Holy Spirit, and renew us by your grace. Help us to trust more fully in the righteousness of Christ, who died for our sin, and was raised for our justification. Amen.

The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: Psalm 130:34

If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, that you may be feared.

Invocation

Hymn 103: Holy God, We Praise Your Name Grosser Gott

Responsive Reading: Psalm 135 (pew Bible p. 519)

Gloria Patri Meineke

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.

Apostles' Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen

Prayer of Intercession (concluding with The Lord’s Prayer)

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
