Prelude: I Wonder As I Wander arr. Robert Hebble

Invocation

Hymn 217: All My Heart This Night Rejoices Warum Sollt' Ich Mich Denn Gramen

Prayer of Confession

Our Father, we praise you for our Great High Priest, the Lord Jesus Christ, who offered himself as the sacrifice for our sins, and in whose name we may come boldly to your throne of grace. We confess we come to you far less often than we sin. We transgress your commandments every day in what we do, think, and say. Our very motives are tainted with sin; often we cannot even discern our own errors. We cast ourselves upon your mercy which flows from the cross of our Savior Jesus. We look to him to be free from condemnation, guilt, and shame. By your Holy Spirit, grant us faith to trust him more. Amen.

The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: Titus 2:1114

For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.

Doxology 733 Lasst Uns Erfreuen

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below; alleluia, alleluia!
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Question of Preparation: Westminster Shorter Catechism, question 25

Question: How does Christ execute the office of a priest?
Answer: Christ executes the office of a priest, in his once offering up of himself a sacrifice to satisfy divine justice and reconcile us to God, and in making continual intercession for us.

Sacrament of the Lord's Supper

The Sursum Corda (Lift up your hearts)

The Lord be with you.
And with your spirit.
Lift up your hearts!
We lift them up to the Lord!
Let us give thanks unto our Lord God.
It is right to give Him thanks and praise.
It is right and good and a joyful thing, always and everywhere to give thanks unto You, O Lord, Holy Father, Almighty, Everlasting God. Therefore, with angels and archangels, and with all the company of heaven, we laud and magnify Your glorious Name; evermore praising You, and saying:

“Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of hosts. Heaven and earth are full of Your glory. Hosanna in the highest.”
