Call to Worship

Invocation

Hymn 301: Join All the Glorious Names Darwall

Prayer of Confession

We confess, O God, that we have sinned against you and are unworthy of your mercy. We have not loved you, our Father; we have grieved the Holy Spirit; we have not waited for the coming of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. We have not been pure and holy. We have been entangled in the world. We have wronged our neighbors. We have broken the unity of your church. Our own hearts condemn us; and yet you are greater than our hearts and know all things. We cast ourselves upon your compassion; we cry to you, be merciful to us sinners. Hear us for the sake of Jesus Christ, who died for us upon the cross, and who rose again for our justification; that, obtaining forgiveness of all our sins, and being filled with the Holy Spirit, we may be enabled to please you in body and in soul forevermore. Amen.

The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: Titus 3:4–7

But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Doxology 733 Lasst Uns Erfreuen

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below; alleluia, alleluia!
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!
