Call to Worship

Doxology Old Hundredth

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below;
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Prayer of Confession

Merciful God, we confess that we have disobeyed your holy law in our thoughts, words, and deeds. We pray your Holy Spirit would impress us deeply with the severity of our sin. Our senses have become dull to sin’s effects, and our hearts seldom feel the weight of our transgressions. We confess the pleasure we often find in sinning; it allures and attracts us, promising satisfaction or reward, but really it only deceives and enslaves us. Father, take away our love of sinning! Expose the lies which tempt us, and by your grace keep us from the evil one. Draw us to yourself in Christ, that we might walk in righteousness and truth all our days. Amen.

The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: Romans 6:22–23

But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Invocation

Hymn 103: Holy God, We Praise Your Name Grosser Got, Wir Loben Dich

Responsive Reading: Psalm 130 (pew Bible p. 518)

Gloria Patri Meineke

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.

Apostles' Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God, the Father Almighty;
from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the
communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Prayer of Intercession (concluding with The Lord’s Prayer)

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
