Call to Worship
Doxology Old Hundredth
Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below;
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
Prayer of Confession
Almighty God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ and our Father, we praise you for your loving, wise, and powerful protection and provision. You work all things for good for those you have called according to your purpose. Yet, O God, we have failed to recognize your gracious hand in all things, and have not given you glory. We worry and fear, not trusting wholly in your strength or your promises. As your children of old, we grumble when things do not go according to our liking. Lord, forgive our ingratitude and our lack of faith. Strengthen us by your Spirit, that we might better comprehend the depth of your love for us through Christ Jesus our Savior. Amen.
The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: Psalm 32:5
I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” and you forgave the iniquity of my sin.
Invocation
Hymn 111: This Is My Father's World Terra Beata
Responsive Reading: Psalm 121 (pew Bible p. 516)
Gloria Patri Meineke
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.
Apostles' Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God, the Father Almighty;
from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
Prayer of Intercession (concluding with The Lord’s Prayer)
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
