Prelude: I Asked the Lord Johnny Lange/Jimmy Duncan

I asked the Lord to comfort me when things weren't going my way, He said to me, "I will comfort you and I'll lift your cares away." I asked the Lord to walk with me, when darkness was all that I knew, He said to me, "Never be afraid, for I will see you through." I didn't ask for riches, He gave me wealth untold, the moon, the stars, the sun, the sky, and gave me eyes to behold. I thank the Lord for everything, and I count my blessings each day, He came to me when I needed Him, I only had to pray. And He will come to you, if you ask Him to, He's only a prayer away

Come, Ye Blessed John Prindle Scott

Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. I was anhungered and ye gave me meat,

I was athirst and ye gave me drink, I was a stranger and ye took me in, naked and ye clothed me,

I was sick and ye visited me, I was in prison and ye came unto me. Therefore, come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. Come ye blessed of the Father, come.

Invocation

Hymn 111: This Is My Father's World Terra Beata

Prayer of Confession

Sovereign Lord, to whom angels cry “Holy, holy, holy,” you are infinite, eternal, and unchanging in your being, wisdom, power, truth, and goodness. In your presence we recognize that we are more sinful than we ever thought. Our sin blinds us to the truth of who we really are. Yet you see all and know all; we cannot hide even our deepest secrets from you. O God, cleanse us by your Holy Spirit, and renew us by your grace. Help us to trust more fully in the righteousness of Christ, who died for our sin, and was raised for our justification. Amen.

The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: Hebrews 9:12

Christ entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below; alleluia, alleluia!
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Offertory: The Lord Is My Light Frances Allitsen

The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom, then, shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life, of whom then shall I be afraid? Though a host of men were laid against me, yet shall not my heart be afraid; and though there rose up war against me, yet will I put my trust in Him. For, in the time of trouble, He shall hide me in his tabernacle, yea, in the secret places of His dwelling shall He hide me, and set me up upon a rock of stone.
