Call to Worship

Doxology Old Hundredth

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below;
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Prayer of Confession

Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from Your ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; and we have done those things which we ought not to have done; and there is no health in us. But You, O Lord, have mercy upon us. And grant, O most merciful Father, for Jesus' sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and joyful life, to the glory of Your Name. Amen.

The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: Colossians 1:13–14

He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Invocation

Hymn 521: My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less Solid Rock

Responsive Reading: Psalm 94:12–23 (pew Bible p. 498)

Gloria Patri Meineke

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.

Apostles' Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Prayer of Intercession (concluding with The Lord’s Prayer)

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing (11am) arr. Michael Larkin
Tenth Church Choir
Norman Carter, piano

Come, thou Fount of every blessing, tune my heart to sing thy grace; streams of mercy, never ceasing, call for loudest songs of praise. I am bound for the kindgom, will you go to glory with me? Hallelujah, praise the Lord; hallelujah, praise the Lord! Oh, to grace how great a debtor daily I'm constrained to be. Let thy goodness like a fetter, bind my wand'ring heart to thee. I am bound for the kindgom, will you go to glory with me? Hallelujah, praise the Lord; hallelujah, praise the Lord! Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it; prone to leave the Lord I love. Here's my heart, oh take and seal it; seal it for they courts above. I am bound for the kindgom, will you go to glory with me? Hallelujah, praise the Lord; hallelujah, praise the Lord!

The Lord’s Supper

The Lord’s Supper will be observed at the 6:30pm service next Sunday, November 19.

The Westminster Shorter Catechism reminds us of the importance of coming to the Lord's Table in a worthy manner:

It is required of them that would worthily partake of the Lord's Supper, that they examine themselves of their knowledge to discern the Lord's body, of their faith to feed upon Him, of their repentance, love, and new obedience; lest, coming unworthily, they eat and drink judgment to themselves. (Shorter Catechism, Answer 97)

Suggested Bible passages for preparation: Psalm 23, John 6:22–40, 1 Corinthians 11:17–32
