Call to Worship

Doxology Old Hundredth

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below;
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Prayer of Confession

Dear Lord God, we cannot count the sins that we have done and are still doing. We have forgotten most of them and no longer feel any guilt. Whatever is in us apart from Your grace is sin and condemned. Thus, we must altogether despair of ourselves, our works, and our powers. We know not what else to do but to pray for Your mercy. Our joy and comfort is that You grant the forgiveness of all our sins out of Your pure grace, only through Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: Romans 5:6–8

For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Invocation

Hymn 297: All Hail the Power of Jesus' Name Diadem

(Tenth youth will be parading with the international flags during the opening hymn.)

Gloria Patri Meineke

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.

Apostles' Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Prayer of Intercession (concluding with The Lord’s Prayer)

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

The Lord’s Supper

The Lord’s Supper will be observed at the 9am, 11am, and 2pm services next Sunday, November 5.

The Westminster Shorter Catechism reminds us of the importance of coming to the Lord's Table in a worthy manner:

It is required of them that would worthily partake of the Lord's Supper, that they examine themselves of their knowledge to discern the Lord's body, of their faith to feed upon Him, of their repentance, love, and new obedience; lest, coming unworthily, they eat and drink judgment to themselves. (Shorter Catechism, Answer 97)

Suggested Bible passages for preparation: Psalm 23, John 6:22–40, 1 Corinthians 11:17–32

At the 9 and 11am services, we will receive a deacon's offering that will go towards Global Outreach.
