Prelude: Toccata in E Major, Part 1 Johann Sebastian Bach

Call to Worship

Invocation

Hymn 15: Stand Up and Bless the Lord Carlisle

Prayer of Confession

Most holy and merciful Father, we acknowledge and confess before You our sinful nature, prone to evil and slothful in good, and all our shortcomings and offenses. You alone know how often we have sinned: in wandering from Your ways, in wasting Your gifts, in forgetting Your love. But You, O Lord, have mercy upon us, who are ashamed and sorry for all the ways we have displeased You. Teach us to hate our errors, cleanse us from our secret faults, and forgive our sins for the sake of Your dear Son. And O most holy and loving Father, help us, we pray, to live in Your light and walk in Your ways, according to the commandments of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: Acts 10:43

To him all the prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.

Question of Preparation: Westminster Shorter Catechism, question 96

Question: What is the Lord's Supper?
Answer: The Lord's Supper is a sacrament, wherein, by giving and receiving bread and wine, according to Christ's appointment, His death is showed forth; and the worthy receivers are, not after a corporal or carnal manner, but by faith, made partakers in His body and blood, with all His benefits, to their spiritual nourishment, and growth in grace.

Sacrament of the Lord's Supper

The Sursum Corda (Lift up your hearts)

The Lord be with you.
And with your spirit.
Lift up your hearts!
We lift them up to the Lord!
Let us give thanks unto our Lord God.
It is right to give Him thanks and praise.
It is right and good and a joyful thing, always and everywhere to give thanks unto You, O Lord, Holy Father, Almighty, Everlasting God. Therefore, with angels and archangels, and with all the company of heaven, we laud and magnify Your glorious Name; evermore praising You, and saying:

“Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of hosts. Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest.”
