Call to Worship

Invocation

Hymn 302: Come, Christians, Join to Sing Madrid

Prayer of Confession

Most holy and merciful Father, we acknowledge and confess before You our sinful nature, prone to evil and slothful in good; and all our shortcomings and offenses. You alone know how often we have sinned in wandering from Your ways, in wasting Your gifts, in forgetting Your love. But You, O Lord, have mercy upon us, who are ashamed and sorry for all the ways we have displeased You. Teach us to hate our errors. Cleanse us from our secret faults and forgive our sins, for the sake of Your dear Son. And O most holy and loving Father, help us, we pray, to live in Your light and walk in Your ways; according to the commandments of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: Romans 4:24–25

It* will be counted to us who believe in him who raised from the dead Jesus our Lord, who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification.

(*that is, faith will be counted as righteousness as it was for Abraham. See Romans 4:19–22)

Doxology 733 Lasst Uns Erfreuen

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below; alleluia, alleluia!
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Sacrament of the Lord's Supper

The Sursum Corda (Lift up your hearts)

The Lord be with you.
And with your spirit.
Lift up your hearts!
We lift them up to the Lord!
Let us give thanks unto our Lord God.
It is right to give Him thanks and praise.
It is right and good and a joyful thing, always and everywhere to give thanks unto You, O Lord, Holy Father, Almighty, Everlasting God. Therefore, with angels and archangels, and with all the company of heaven, we laud and magnify Your glorious Name; evermore praising You, and saying:

“Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of hosts. Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest.”
