Prelude: Amazing Grace arr. George Shearing

Call to Worship

Invocation

Hymn 119: I Sing the Almighty Power of God Forest Green

Prayer of Confession

O most merciful God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who pardons all such as truly repent and turn to You. We humbly confess our sins and implore Your mercy. We have not loved You with a whole heart fervently; neither have we loved our neighbor as ourselves. We have not done justly, nor loved mercy, nor walked humbly with You, our God. Have mercy upon us, O Lord, according to Your
loving-kindness; according to the multitude of Your tender mercies, blot out our iniquity. Create in us a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within us. Cast us not away from Your presence, and take not Your Holy Spirit from us. Restore unto us the joy of Your salvation, and uphold us with Your free Spirit. Amen.

The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: Romans 5:1

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Doxology 733 Lasst Uns Erfreuen

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below; alleluia, alleluia!
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Prayer of Illumination

Scripture Reading: James 5:7–12 (pew Bible p. )

Hymn 597: Though I May Speak with Bravest Fire Gift Of Love

Confession of Faith: Westminster Larger Catechism, question 79

Question: May not true believers, by reason of their imperfections, and the many temptations and sins they are overtaken with, fall away from the state of grace?
Answer: True believers, by reason of the unchangeable love of God, and his decree and covenant to give them perseverance, their inseparable union with Christ, his continual intercession for them, and the Spirit and seed of God abiding in them, can neither totally nor finally fall away from the state of grace, but are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation.
