Call to Worship

Invocation

Hymn 310: Rejoice, the Lord Is King Darwall

Prayer of Confession

Loving Father, we thank You that as we confess our sins, we also learn Your love for us in Christ. Forgive us for being double-minded, for the divided loyalty which pervades our lives. We try to serve You while still serving money. We say we love You most of all, but our hearts are drawn to other things. We want Your forgiveness but repeat the same sins. We want to be respected, but we destroy others with our words. O God, forgive us and create clean hearts within us. May your Holy Spirit work in us that which is pleasing in Your sight. Amen.

The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: 1 John 4:9–10

In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

Doxology 733 Lasst Uns Erfreuen

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below; alleluia, alleluia!
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!
