Call to Worship
•Doxology (Trinity Hymnal 731) Old Hundredth
Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below;
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
•Prayer of Confession
God of grace, we confess how hard it is for us to love you and to love others. We are hindered by our pride, self-centeredness, suspicion, fear, greed, and many other vices. We pray for a spirit of humility and meekness like the Lord Jesus, who came not to be served, but to serve, and give his life as a ransom. Help us to see again how much you have loved us in Christ, though undeserving, and may that spur us on to love and good works. Amen.
•The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: 1 John 4:9
In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.
•Invocation
•Hymn 455: And Can It Be That I Should Gain Sagina
Responsive Reading: Psalm 80 (page 491)
•Gloria Patri (Trinity Hymnal 734) Meineke
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.
•Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
Prayer of Intercession (concluding with The Lord’s Prayer)
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

About Worship
The Means of Grace
What are the outward means whereby Christ communicates to us the benefits of redemption?
The outward and ordinary means whereby Christ communicates to us the benefits of redemption are his ordinances, especially the Word, sacraments, and prayer; all which are made effectual to the elect for salvation.
