Call to Worship
•Doxology (Trinity Hymnal 731) Old Hundredth
Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below;
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
•Prayer of Confession
God of grace, you have given us Jesus, the light of the world. We love belonging to you and being yours. But we confess we still know what it means to choose darkness, to cling to things that hide the brightness of your love, to turn in on ourselves and embrace our own ways instead of yours. We offer to you now these words to express our desire for forgiveness, our longing to leave the darkness behind, our heartfelt prayer to be new and our hunger to walk in your ways. Please help us to see, again, your glory, shining in the face of Jesus your Son. In his name we pray. Amen.
•The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: John 8:12
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
•Invocation
•Hymn 58: O Splendor of God’s Glory Bright Winchester New

•Gloria Patri (Trinity Hymnal 734) Meineke
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.
•Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
Prayer of Intercession (concluding with The Lord’s Prayer)
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
