Call to Worship

Invocation

Hymn 5: God, My King, Thy Might Confessing Stuttgart

Prayer of Confession

O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! What are we, that you are mindful of us? If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? We have nothing to present before you except our own sin and misery. Our souls wait for you, O God. We hope and trust in your steadfast love and mercy, and in the plentiful redemption which we have in Christ Jesus, our Savior. Amen.

The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: Psalm 32:5

I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” and you forgave the iniquity of my sin.

Doxology (Trinity Hymnal 732) Tallis’ Canon

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below;

Praise him above, ye heavenly host: praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

Prayer of Illumination (concluding with The Lord’s Prayer)

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
