Prelude
The Old Hundredth Psalm Tune Ralph Vaughan Williams
Call to Worship
Invocation
•Hymn 8: Mighty God, While Angels Bless You Alleluia
•Prayer of Confession
O Lord, we beseech you, hear the voice of our cry. We do repent of sin—give us a deeper repentance! May we have a horror of it, may we dread the very approach of it, may we chastely flee from it and resolve, with sacred jeolousy, that our hearts shall be for the Lord alone. May Christ be all in all to us; may we never look elsewhere for ground of rest, but abide in him with an unwavering, immutable confidence. Plough deep in us, Lord, and let the roots of your grace strike into the roots of our being, until it shall no longer be I that live, but Christ that lives in me. Amen.
•The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: 2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
•Doxology (Trinity Hymnal 732) Tallis’ Canon
Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below;
Praise him above, ye heavenly host: praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Prayer of Illumination (concluding with The Lord’s Prayer)
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
