Prelude
Ich ruf’ zu dir, Herr Jesu Christ! Johann Sebastian Bach
I call to you, Lord Jesus Christ! I beg, hear my complaint!
Grant me grace at this time; let me not despair!
The pure faith, Lord, I wish that you would give me:
To live to you, to help my neighbor, and to keep your Word faithfully.
All Creatures of Our God and King arr. John Rutter
All creatures of our God and King, lift up your voice and with us sing, Alleluia! Alleluia!
Thou burning with golden beam, thou silver moon with softer gleam,
O praise him, O praise him, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

Call to Worship
•Doxology (Trinity Hymnal 731) Old Hundredth
Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below;
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
•Prayer of Confession
Almighty God, we confess how hard it is to be your people. You have called us to be the church, to continue the mission of Jesus Christ to our lonely and confused world. Yet we acknowledge we are often more apathetic than active, isolated than involved, callous than compassionate, obstinate than obedient, legalistic than loving. Gracious Lord, have mercy upon us and forgive our sins. Remove the obstacles preventing us from being your representatives to a broken world. Awaken our hearts to the promised gift of your indwelling Spirit. This we pray in Jesus’ powerful name. Amen.
•The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: Romans 5:8–9
God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.
•Invocation
•Hymn 298: The Head That Once Was Crowned with Thorns St. Magnus
•Responsive Reading: Psalm 63 (page 479)
Gloria Patri (Trinity Hymnal 734) Meineke
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.
•Nicene Creed
I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds; God of God, light of light, very God of very God; begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made. Who, for us and our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the Virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried; and the third day he rose again, according to the Scriptures; and ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of the Father; and he shall come again, with glory, to judge the living and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end.
And I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of life; who proceedeth from the Father and the Son; who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified; who spake by the prophets. And I believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins; and I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Offertory: Be Thou My Vision arr. Stuart Sacks
Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart; naught be all else to me, save that thou art—thou my best thought by day or by night, waking or sleeping, thy presence my light.
Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise, thou mine inheritance, now and always: thou and thou only, ever befall, still be my vision, O ruler of all.
