Prelude
O Divine Redeemer Charles Gounod
Ah! Turn me not away, receive me, tho’ unworthy. Hear thou my cry, behold, Lord, my distress! Answer me from Thy throne, haste Thee, Lord, to mine aid, Thy pity show in my deep anguish! Let not the sword of vengeance smite me, tho’ righteous Thine anger, O Lord! Shield me in danger, O regard me! On Thee, Lord, alone will I call. O divine Redeemer, I pray Thee, grant me pardon and remember not my sins! Forgive me. Night gathers ‘round my soul; fearful, I cry to Thee; come to mine aid, O Lord! Haste Thee, Lord, to help me. Save me, Lord, in Thy mercy. Help me, my Savior.
Aus Liebe will mein Heiland sterben from St. Matthew Passion Johann Sebastian Bach
Out of love my Savior is willing to die—of any sin He knows nothing—so that eternal ruin and the punishment of judgment may not remain upon my soul.

Call to Worship
•Doxology (Trinity Hymnal 731) Old Hundredth
Praise God from Whom all blessings flow; praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
•Prayer of Confession and Adoration
Everlasting Father, have mercy on me, a sinner. If ever I am saved, it will be by goodness undeserved and astonishing, not by mercy alone but by abundant mercy, not by grace but by exceeding riches of grace; and such You have revealed, promised, exemplified in thoughts of peace, not of evil. You have devised means to rescue me from sin’s perdition, to restore me to happiness, honor, and safety. I bless You for the everlasting covenant, for the appointment of a Mediator. I rejoice that He failed not, nor was discouraged, but accomplished the work You gave Him to do; and said on the cross, “It is finished.” I exult in the thought that Your justice is satisfied, Your truth established, Your law magnified, and a foundation is laid for my hope. I look to Christ and say, surely He has borne my griefs, carried my sorrows, won my peace, healed my soul. Justified by His blood, I am saved by His life, glorying in His cross, I humbly bow before Him as my Savior and King. Amen.

Offertory: He Was Wounded Craig Courtney
He was wounded for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities. The punishment that brought us peace was upon Him. And with His wounds we are healed. He was despised, He was rejected, one from whom men hide their faces. Man of sorrows, with grief acquainted, we esteemed Him not. All we like sheep have gone astray, each of us turned to his own way, and the Lord has laid on Him all of our sin. Surely He took up all of our suffering. Surely He carried our sorrows. Yet we considered Him afflicted, smitten, stricken by God.
