Invocation
•Hymn 97: We Praise You, O God, Our Redeemer, Creator Kremser
•Prayer of Confession
Almighty, merciful God, we acknowledge for ourselves and we confess before You that which is the truth, namely, that if You decided to consider our merits and worthiness, we would not be worthy to lift our eyes to heaven and bring our prayer before You. For our consciences accuse us and our sins testify against us. But, O Lord, since in Your unspeakable mercy You hear our prayers, so we forsake all other help and take our refuge in Your mercy alone. Receive us into Your holy care and protection, and rule us by Your Holy Spirit. May He daily more and more put to death our flesh with all its desires, renew us to a better life, and yield in us true fruits of faith, by which Your name will be praised and glorified forevermore. Amen.
•The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: Hebrews 10:15–17
And the Holy Spirit also bears witness to us; for after saying, “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws on their hearts, and write them on their minds,” then he adds, “I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.”

About Worship
Reciting the Creed
An affirmation of faith provides for the expression of the church’s most basic and deeply held beliefs. Through corporate recitation of such an affirmation, the church expresses its continuity with the church of the ages and its solidarity with fellow believers across the world. By affirming what we believe, we renew our convictions, attest our continuing belief in the historical truths of Christianity, indicate our support of those who have been persecuted for their faith, humble ourselves before the truths of Scripture, provide testimony of our faith to our children and the watching world, declare our loyalty to God, and renew in heart and mind the truths on which we will base our daily lives and on which we have staked the eternal destiny of our souls.
