Prelude: Air Samuel Wesley

Call to Worship

Invocation

Hymn 32: Great Is Thy Faithfulness Faithfulness

Prayer of Confession

Heavenly Father, you are the God of mercy and grace. While we were your enemies, Christ died for us. Our hearts are filled with gratitude. Yet, O God, we confess our resistance to loving others as you have loved us. We instinctively distance ourselves from difficult people and hard situations. We view time and resources as our own possessions, rather than gifts from you we should share. Holy Spirit, open our eyes to the needs around us. Make us like Jesus, who came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for others. Amen.

The Gospel’s Assurance of Pardon: John 3:16–17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Doxology 733 Lasst Uns Erfreuen

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below; alleluia, alleluia!
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!
